Writing Personal Poetry

3 Sessions: Tuesdays; October 13, 20 & 27; 1 - 3:00 p.m.

Member Fee:           $40
Non-Member Fee:     $50

This course starts where Richard Morgan’s last one, Introduction to Writing Personal Poetry, left off. Through teaching, coaching and encouraging, students will learn to express their inner poetry, which requires them to carefully select a limited number of words to express a feeling or tell of an experience.

Richard has felt for a long time that there is poetry in everyone. The students in his last class learned that to be true, as well. Some of them may take this next course and it is expected new students will join them. All will learn and grow.

Richard Morgan grew up in Newburgh, New York, where he was encouraged to write poems and plays by his tenth grade English teacher (she was young and pretty and he had a crush on her). He attended SUNY-Albany, where he was the lone physics major in his creative writing class. Richard’s semester-long stint as a columnist for his college newspaper ended in his being fired!

The imagination that drove Richard then has led to eight published poetry books. After forty years in education, he retired to the New Jersey shore and then to Hendersonville, where he continues to write, lecture, and encourage.
