Is time travel possible? Will anyone ever be able to “beam us up?” How does Superman change direction in mid-air? Does it bother you in the movies when an explosion occurs in space and it makes a noise?

This course is for anyone who enjoys a good story about the future, but sometimes has nagging doubts about how realistic it is. And, it’s taught by someone who doesn’t want to spoil the fun!

Mark Whipple taught high school physics and astronomy for 33 years, primarily in Maryland, before retiring to North Carolina. He has served internships at the Goddard Space Flight Center and the National Air and Space Museum. Never fully retired from astronomy, Mark continues to teach what he loves.
